Elements of Nature
My barrel-fired ceramic sculptures embody the primal forces of nature—earth, air, fire, and water. These elements are both my material and muse, shaping the narrative and texture of each piece.
The process of barrel firing reflects the transformative power of fire and the unpredictable marks it leaves behind, symbolising nature’s capacity to both create and destroy. Each sculpture, with its organic forms and earthy textures, reflects the landscapes of Dorset: the undulating terrain, the windswept cliffs, and the ever-changing tides.
Through these works, I aim to evoke a connection to the elemental forces that shape our world and invite the viewer to contemplate the delicate balance between nature’s beauty and its inherent volatility.
